Overview
This course is designed for storage administrators and cloud operators aiming to deploy and manage Ceph Storage in enterprise data centers or within OpenStack or OpenShift environments. Participants will learn to set up, manage, and scale a Ceph storage cluster to provide hybrid storage resources, including object, block, and file storage.
Objectives
By the end of this course, leaner will be able to:
- Deploy and manage a Ceph Storage cluster on commodity servers.
- Perform common management operations using the web-based management interface.
- Create, expand, and control access to storage pools provided by the Ceph cluster.
- Access Ceph Storage from clients using object, block, and file-based methods.
- Analyze and tune Ceph Storage performance.
- Integrate OpenStack Platform image, object, block, and file storage with a Ceph Storage cluster.
Prerequisites
- Familiarity with storage concepts and Linux system administration.
- Basic understanding of cloud computing and virtualization.
Course Outline
- Describe Ceph Storage architecture, including data organization, distribution, and client access methods.
- Deploy a new Ceph Storage cluster and expand the cluster capacity.
- Manage the Ceph Storage configuration, including primary settings, the use of monitors, and the cluster network layout.
- Create and manage components that comprise the object storage cluster, including OSDs, pools, and the cluster authorization method.
- Manage and adjust the CRUSH and OSD maps to optimize data placement to meet performance and redundancy requirements.
- Configure Ceph Storage to provide block storage for clients using RADOS block devices (RBDs).
- Configure Ceph Storage to provide object storage for clients using a RADOS Gateway (RGW).
- Configure Ceph Storage to provide file storage for clients using the Ceph File System (CephFS).
- Perform day-to-day operations and maintenance tasks on a Ceph Storage cluster.
- Integrate Ceph Storage with OpenStack services like Glance and Cinder for image and block storage.
